"We are known as a people with chutzpah. Our art must be the same" - Reuven Ruvi Rivlin, President of Israel - November 18, 2018

Art can be both an emotional journey and a financial investment, and IAILA (Israeli Art in Los Angeles) curates contemporary works that engage culture, add meaning to your everyday, celebrate identity and heritage, and elevate the way you live.

Sagi Refael is an established art historian, curator, and educator, specializing in thoughtful, meaningful curatorial guidance for both seasoned collectors and those just beginning their journey in contemporary art.

In 2017 he founded IAILA, a private initiative dedicated to cultural exchange and artistic cross-pollination between Israel and the USA. Working with contemporary artists of diverse media and in different stages of their careers, IAILA brings contemporary Jewish & Israeli culture to the American audience, as well as American art to the Israeli art community, via exhibitions, lectures, consulting, art sales, artist residencies and special projects.

Since 2004, Mr. Refael has contributed essays to numerous art catalogues published in Israel and abroad, and has curated in leading venues such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; The Jerusalem Biennale; Charlie James Gallery, Los Angeles; as well as many other galleries and non-for-profit institutions and universities in Israel, Germany, China and the USA.

Mr. Refael has served as lead curator and director of a commercial art gallery in Tel Aviv; lectured at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Minshar Art College in Tel Aviv; and guest-lectured and curated in several art institutions and academies in Israel and the USA, including: The Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv; Center for the Arts, Towson University, MD; The University of Southern California (USC); University of California (UCLA); American Jewish University, Los Angeles, CA; Los Angeles Hebrew High School, Los Angeles; California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks; University of La Verne, La Verne; and Mt. San Jacinto College, San Jacinto.

From 2019 to 2024, Mr. Refael taught a range of courses on Israeli art at the American Jewish University in Bel Air, California.

Since 2023 he has been serving on the board of JAI - Jewish Artists Initiative of Southern California.
